A Boston-bound man wearing body armor, flame retardant leggings and knee pads under his trench coat arrested at
Los Angeles International Airport after a Customs and Border Protection officer found a smoke grenade
and several weapons in his checked luggage is facing a federal charge for transporting hazardous material on an airplane.

A young, female leukemia patient says she was humiliated by a security search at Seattle’s Sea-Tac
airport last week. Security officials lifted bandages from recent surgeries, lifted her shirt to check
feeding tubes and broke open an IV bag of saline solution, all in full view of other passengers.

In one of the incidents last week, Transportation Security Administration screeners allowed a New Orleans Hornets
executive to board a plane from New Orleans to Newark, N.J., with a loaded handgun in his baggage.
